The solid axle front Hilux built between 1979 and 1997 is one of the toughest light trucks Toyota ever made, and plenty are still working on farms or being restored for the tracks. After decades of use, though, their leaf springs have usually flattened and the shocks have long given up. This EFS kit renews the suspension at all four corners and lifts the Hilux by about 50mm (2"), restoring ground clearance and a controlled, predictable ride.
Because the SAF Hilux uses leaf springs at both ends, the kit supplies new raised leaf packs front and rear, matched with EFS Elite shocks and a front diff locator to keep the axle sitting correctly at the new ride height.
Choose Your Shock
Elite
The Elite series is the shock supplied for the SAF Hilux. It is a well-rounded twin-tube shock for a vehicle that does everything from farm work to weekend four-wheel driving, softening sharp hits from potholes and ruts while keeping body roll in check.
- 35mm bore twin-tube design
- 15mm hardened chrome piston rod
- Valving matched to the raised EFS leaf springs
Front Load Options
- 50-100kgs: a medium-rated front spring that handles the factory bumper through to a light bar or alloy bar with driving lights.
Rear Load Options
- 0-150kgs: a comfort-rated rear spring for everyday driving with an empty tray or light gear.
- 300kgs: a firmer rear spring for a constant load such as a canopy, toolbox or touring equipment.
