Troubleshooting Camera Alignment Issues During Clearview Towing Mirror Installation
Installing towing mirrors should be a straightforward upgrade. However, some installers have recently experienced camera alignment issues during setup. If you’ve come across this problem, there’s a simple explanation and an easy fix.
What’s Causing the Alignment Problem?
The issue comes down to the camera mounting brackets.
While the brackets may look nearly identical at first glance, they are actually side-specific. Each bracket is designed to match the unique angle of the mirror arm on either the left or right side of the vehicle.
Installing the wrong bracket on the wrong side can result in:
- Misaligned camera views
- Poor visibility
- Frustration during installation
The Simple Fix
Each bracket is clearly marked:
- L = Left
- R = Right
Before installation, double-check that:
- The correct bracket is matched to the correct mirror
- The markings are clearly visible and correctly positioned

This quick check can save you significant time and ensure your mirrors function exactly as intended.
Important Installation Update: Protect Your Vehicle Electronics
Modern vehicles are more advanced than ever, with sensitive electronic systems and CAN bus technology playing a major role in how components communicate.
Because of this, installation practices need to keep up.
Always Disconnect the Battery First
Before installing Clearview towing mirrors or any electrical accessory, it is strongly recommended to disconnect the vehicle’s battery.
This helps:
- Protect sensitive onboard electronics
- Prevent electrical faults or error codes
- Ensure a smoother installation process

Final Tip
Taking a few extra moments to confirm bracket placement and disconnect the battery can make all the difference between a smooth install and a frustrating one.
If you’re unsure at any stage, it’s always better to double-check than to troubleshoot later.
