Will My Ranger PX Bull Bar Fit My New Next Gen Ranger?
The Next Gen Ford Ranger (2022 onwards) looks similar to the old PX at a glance, but underneath it's a completely different vehicle. If you're wondering whether your Ranger PX bull bar will fit your new Next Gen Ranger, the short answer is no — and in this guide we'll explain exactly why, what's changed, and which bull bar you actually need for your new ute.
Why Won't My PX Bull Bar Fit the Next Gen Ranger?
It's an easy mistake to make. Ford kept the "Ranger" name and the general ute shape looks familiar, so it's natural to assume the bull bar off your old PX will bolt straight onto your new rig. Unfortunately, the Next Gen Ranger (chassis code P703) sits on an all-new platform, not a facelift of the PX-series T6 platform that ran from 2011 through to mid-2022.
The changes that matter most for bull bar fitment are:
- Wider track and longer wheelbase — the Next Gen chassis is wider and longer than the PX, which shifts every mounting point on the front end.
- New bumper and chassis rail design — the crash structure, bumper shape and chassis mounting brackets are all different, so PX-specific mounting brackets simply don't line up.
- Reworked engine bay — the Next Gen was designed around a wider range of engines including the V6 diesel, which changed the front-end packaging and radiator support structure.
- Sensor and ADAS placement — higher-spec Next Gen Rangers (Wildtrak, Sport, Platinum) carry radar, parking sensors and camera hardware in different locations to the PX, so a bull bar needs the correct cut-outs and brackets to avoid disabling safety features.
Even within the PX era, fitment wasn't always universal — a bar built for a PX2 doesn't always suit a PX3 due to sensor changes introduced from 2018 onwards. Jumping from any PX to the Next Gen is a bigger leap again, and no bull bar on the market is designed to bridge that gap.
What Fits the PX, PX2 and PX3 Ranger
If you're still running a PX-series Ranger (2011–2022) and just want a direct-fit replacement or an upgrade, brands like EFS build dedicated bars for each PX variant:

The EFS Stockman Bullbar for PX1 (2011–2015) is a direct-fit steel bar designed specifically for the early PX shape, while the EFS Stockman Bullbar for PX3 accounts for the updated bumper and sensor package on later models.

For a lighter, more streetable option, the EFS Xcape Bar for PX2/PX3 keeps front-end weight down while still giving you a mounting platform for driving lights and an aerial.
What Fits the Next Gen Ranger (2022+)
For the Next Gen Ranger, you need a bar that's been engineered around the new chassis, bumper and sensor layout from the ground up. EFS and Rival 4x4 both build Next Gen–specific ranges:

The EFS Stockman Bullbar for Next Gen Ranger follows the same rugged Stockman design philosophy as the PX version, but is purpose-built for the new front-end geometry and sensor placement — so parking sensors and ADAS features on higher-spec models keep working as intended.

The EFS Xcape Bullbar for Next Gen Ranger is the lighter-weight equivalent, ideal if you want front-end protection without adding unnecessary weight over the front axle.

If you're after a full alloy bumper replacement rather than a traditional steel bull bar, the Rival Bumper for Next Gen Ranger & Everest is a strong, lightweight option built specifically for the new platform.
Buying Second-Hand? Check the Generation First
Second-hand bull bars are common in Australian 4WD classifieds, and they can be a great way to save money — but only if the bar was actually built for your Ranger. Before you buy, confirm:
- The exact model code and build date (PX1, PX2, PX3 or Next Gen) — not just "Ford Ranger"
- Whether your vehicle has front parking sensors, radar cruise or a front camera that needs specific cut-outs
- Whether the mounting brackets and hardware are included, since brackets are rarely interchangeable between generations
If in doubt, check your compliance plate or rego papers for the exact build date and variant, or get in touch with our team and we'll help you match the right bar to your Ranger.
