  • Brown Davis 120 Litre Replacement Long Range Fuel Tank for BYD Shark 6 (2024–Present)

Brown Davis is proud to introduce the 120 Litre Replacement Long Range Fuel Tank (BS24R1) for the BYD Shark 6 — delivering exactly double the capacity of the vehicle's standard 60 litre petrol tank. That means fewer fuel stops, significantly extended range between fill-ups, and greater flexibility for BYD Shark 6 owners covering longer distances or venturing into areas where fuel availability is uncertain.

Manufactured in Australia from laser-cut aluminised steel, this tank is engineered to the same exacting standards as every Brown Davis product — and it is a natural fit for the growing number of Australian drivers choosing the BYD Shark 6 as their everyday and touring vehicle. Available at Brixton 4x4, the BS24R1 is backed by Brown Davis' 3-year manufacturer's warranty and comes complete with all parts and hardware required for installation.

Fits: BYD Shark 6 (2024–Present) — All Models | Dual Cab

Step-by-step DIY installation instructions with photographs and diagrams are included with every tank.

Hybrid Engine Integration — How It Works

The BYD Shark 6 utilises a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that blends an internal combustion petrol engine with an electric drivetrain. The Brown Davis BS24R1 tank complements this hybrid architecture by increasing the petrol-reserve side of the system.

In practice, once the battery charge has been drawn down and the vehicle is operating in HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) mode, the petrol engine has twice the standard fuel reserve to draw from — allowing the hybrid system to keep the vehicle operating further before a refuel is needed. You retain all the benefits of the electric assistance, with the added reassurance of a dramatically extended petrol range when you need it most.

Why Choose the Brown Davis BS24R1?

Brown Davis has been manufacturing long range fuel tanks in Australia since 1978. Every tank is laser cut from high-grade aluminised steel — giving you the structural strength of steel combined with the corrosion resistance of aluminium. Tanks are folded, precisely welded using fitting jigs, and pressure tested before leaving the factory.

    Key Features

    • 120 litre replacement capacity — exactly doubles the factory 60L petrol tank for a 100% increase in petrol range
    • Petrol-compatible aluminised steel construction — steel tanks are required for petrol applications; poly tanks are not compatible with petrol
    • Hybrid powertrain compatible — designed specifically for the BYD Shark 6 PHEV architecture
    • Tapered approach angle — reduces frontal impact risk and maintains ramp-over clearance
    • Internal baffling system — prevents fuel slosh and reinforces overall tank structure
    • Gusseted brackets with double thickness pads — spreads mounting loads for a secure, reliable fit
    • Fuel pump sender flange — designed to re-use the vehicle's original equipment
    • Retains standard filler point — connects to the vehicle's original filling point
    • Cushion clamp locators — retains fuel lines and prevents kinking and damage
    • No modifications required — direct bolt-in replacement for the factory tank
    • Ground clearance maintained — engineered to preserve the vehicle's stock clearance and ramp-over angle
    • 3-year manufacturer's warranty — backed by Brown Davis' Australia-wide support network
    • All hardware and parts supplied — everything needed for installation included in the box

  • Compatibility
  • Year Cab Configuration Variants
    2024 Dual Cab All Models
    2025 Dual Cab All Models

    Aftermarket Compatibility:

    • Suspension: Confident fitment with all suspension, airbags and GVMs
    • Alloy and Steel Trays: Confident fitment with most aftermarket trays — filler may need relocating after tank fitment. Some under-tray drawers may interfere with the tank.
    • Exhausts: Confident fitment with most aftermarket exhausts
  • Installation
  • 1.  Unpack the tank and verify all components, hardware, and fitting instructions are present before beginning.

    2.  Safely raise and support the vehicle to gain full access to the underside and the factory fuel tank mounting location.

    3.  Drain any remaining petrol from the factory tank and disconnect all fuel lines, sender wiring, filler tube, and breather lines.

    4.  Remove all factory tank mounting hardware and carefully lower the original tank from the vehicle.

    5.  Transfer the factory fuel pump sender assembly to the Brown Davis BS24R1 tank — the tank is designed to reuse the vehicle's original equipment.

    6.  Offer up the Brown Davis tank to the mounting location, align all bracket points with the vehicle's existing fixings, and hand-tighten the mounting hardware.

    7.  Reconnect all fuel lines using the supplied cushion clamp locators to secure lines and prevent kinking.

    8.  Connect the filler tube to the vehicle's standard filler point — no filler neck modifications are required.

    9.  Torque all mounting fasteners to specification, inspect all connections, and check for any leaks before refuelling and driving.

Comprehensive step-by-step DIY fitting instructions with photographs and diagrams are included with every tank. The following is a general overview of the installation process.
